Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate the crucial role of sustainability in the food industry. This has led me to reevaluate my philosophies on food sourcing and recognize the need for a delicate balance in our local food system, especially in places like Hong Kong that heavily rely on the global economy for their food supply.
Given the challenges facing the global food supply chain, it’s time for realistic solutions to enhance our local food system and make it more sustainable. My goal is to ensure that good, healthy, culturally acceptable food is accessible to all. I believe urban farming can help achieve this, especially in areas with minimal arable land.
I am currently educating myself on developing a prototype self-sufficient aquaculture system. I understand that this is a challenging task with many variables involved in running a successful operation. However, I am always ready for a challenge, especially when the outcome could bring us closer to a less wasteful and more food and resource-aware society.
I am a strong advocate for social programs or initiatives that develop after-care programs. I believe in helping build safe working environments for newly sober men and women, which can nourish the emotional tools, financial base, and life skills needed to treat their addiction and re-assimilate into society. This is particularly relevant in the food and beverage industry, which has a long history of staff substance abuse issues.
I am passionate about assisting communities in mentoring our youth through the complexities of this competitive world. I aim to bring awareness and positive effects on young people in various personal, academic, and professional situations.
I am a budding woodworker who enjoys making unique and elegant objects from old furniture, reclaimed lumber and fallen trees. Woodworking is a soothing and gratifying activity for me, and I always search for new challenges and ideas. It is not just a hobby, it is also my way of showing my creativity and passion.
